7:39 pm	each generation rewrites its own history Ukraine was the center of the first eastern Slavic state, Kyivan Rus, which during the 10th and 11th centuries was the largest and most powerful state in Europe. Weakened by internecine quarrels and Mongol invasions, Kyivan Rus was incorporated into the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and eventually into the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The cultural and religious legacy of Kyivan Rus laid the foundation for Ukrainian nationalism through subsequent centuries. A new Ukrainian state, the Cossack Hetmanate, was established during the mid-17th century after an uprising against the Poles. Despite continuous Muscovite pressure, the Hetmanate managed to remain autonomous for well over 100 years. During the latter part of the 18th century, most Ukrainian ethnographic territory was absorbed by the Russian Empire. Following the collapse of czarist Russia in 1917, Ukraine was able to bring about a short-lived period of independence (1917-20), but was reconquered and forced to endure a brutal Soviet rule that engineered two artificial famines (1921-22 and 1932-33) in which over 8 million died. In World War II, German and Soviet armies were responsible for some 7 to 8 million more deaths. наткнулся на сайте www.cia.gov. Очевидно, это украинский текущий официоз. 1:05 pm	Благими намерениями... В местных новостях прошёл сюжет: В День Святого Патрика (точнее в субботу после парада у нас тут в субботу всегда массово гуляют), в одном баре один законопослушный товарищ заметил как его собутыльник садится в своё авто. После много пива. И сообщил об этом полицейским. Полицейские хотели остановить, но тот пытался скрыться и устроил погоню. В ходе коей протаранил случайный автомобиль, убив водителя. Дело в том, что скорей всего, не случись этого законопослушного товарища, выпивший пива водитель потихоньку доехал бы до дома. Он, как оказалось, был на пробейшене и очень боялся встреч с полицией. Почему, собственно, и пытался скрыться. Фактически, захотевший добра законопослушный помощник полиции -- совершил зло. (3 Comments |Comment on this)

7:33 pm	Two Sources of the Russian Patrilineal Heritage in Their Eurasian Context Progress in the mapping of population genetic substructure provides a core source of data for the reconstruction of the demographic history of our species and for the discovery of common signals relevant to disease research: These two aspects of enquiry overlap in their empirical data content and are especially informative at continental and subcontinental levels. In the present study of the variation of the Y chromosome pool of ethnic Russians, we show that the patrilineages within the pre-Ivan the Terrible historic borders of Russia have two main distinct sources. One of these antedates the linguistic split between West and East Slavonic-speaking people and is common for the two groups; the other is genetically highlighted by the pre-eminence of haplogroup (hg) N3 and is most parsimoniously explained by extensive assimilation of (or language change in) northeastern indigenous Finno-Ugric tribes. Although hg N3 is common for both East European and Siberian Y chromosomes, other typically Siberian or Mongolian hgs (Q and C) have negligible influence within the studied Russian Y chromosome pool. The distribution of all frequent Y chromosome haplogroups (which account for 95% of the Y chromosomal spectrum in Russians) follows a similar north-south clinal pattern among autosomal markers, apparent from synthetic maps. Multidimensional scaling (MDS) plots comparing intra ethnic and interethnic variation of Y chromosome in Europe show that although well detectable, intraethnic variation signals do not cross interethnic borders, except between Poles, Ukrainians, and central-southern Russians, thereby revealing their overwhelmingly shared patrilineal ancestry. http://www.ajhg.org/AJHG/fulltext/S0002-9297(07)00025-0 В январском номере журнала The American Journal of Human Genetics была опубликована статья об исследовании русского генофонда, проведенного российскими и эстонскими генетиками. Результаты оказались неожиданными: по сути, русский этнос генетически состоит из двух частей - коренное население Южной и Центральной России родственно с другими народами, говорящими на славянских языках, а жители Севера страны - с финно-уграми. И второй довольно удивительный и, можно даже сказать, сенсационный момент - типичного для азиатов (в том числе, пресловутых монголо-татар) набора генов ни в одной из русских популяций (ни в северной, ни в южной) в достаточном количестве не обнаружено.
